A year ago, my life looked very different.​​

I spent my twenties as a software engineer for the federal government, where I quickly earned a reputation for my dedication and commitment to every customer's vision. By 28, I had accepted a role developing public safety drone technology before unexpected health challenges led me to step away.​​

​

Looking back, it's funny how life comes full circle. Before software engineering, I spent years dog walking, pet sitting, and nannying. I didn't realize it at the time, but I was already doing the kind of work that would eventually bring me back here.

​

During my recovery, I realized I had been given an unexpected opportunity to reinvent my future. It gave me the chance to step back and ask myself what kind of work I found most meaningful. I realized that, regardless of the career, I was happiest when I was building strong relationships, earning people's trust, and finding thoughtful solutions to the challenges people brought to me.

​

It's hard to overstate the impact pets have on our lives. They offer comfort, companionship, and unconditional love through every chapter. For me, I found peace in sitting outside with my cats and excitement in every trip to the dog park. Those moments reminded me what mattered most and inspired what came next.

That's why I created Step Ahead Pet Care: to build lasting relationships with pets and the people who love them.

Safety is the foundation of everything I do. I've experienced the sleepless nights, emergency vet visits, medications, and uncertainty that come with caring for a sick pet. I've also experienced the relief, gratitude, and overwhelming love that follow. Those experiences gave me an even deeper appreciation for the trust pet parents place in someone caring for a member of their family.

 

Although my career has changed, the values that made me successful haven't.

I still believe exceptional service is built on trust, communication, and genuine relationships. I don't just want to build a pet care business, I want to continually raise the standard of what great pet care feels like. Whether that's creating new adventures for dogs or developing better ways to help you stay connected while you're away, my goal is always the same: to make sure you never have to search for another pet sitter or dog walker again.
